Inspections


Bridge bearing and expansion joints are important components of bridges. When they are damaged or limited in their functions, subsequent damages can arise to the construction. Thus traffic security, stability and durability may be influenced. In order to minimize this danger, the German Standard DIN 1076 regulates that a main inspection must be conducted on the construction every six years. The analysis resulting from this inspection on defects and damages, including their causes, serves as the basis for their technically correct, durable and economic rectification. More...



Tests


mageba provides its customers with the biggest global testing rig for bridge bearings with a max. test load of 100’000 kN.

Usually, vertical and/or horizontal force tests are performed. Additional sliding friction tests can be conducted on unilateral or general moveable bearings.

By means of special wedge-shaped constructions, the bearing’s tilting capacity can also be verified. More...



Installation


Qualified experts take over the entire or just supervise the installation of bridge bearings, expansion joints and shock absorbers on construction sites all over the world.

Particularly in case of big constructions where a considerable amount of bridge bearings, expansion joints or shock absorbers must be mounted, the installation can also be carried out by the customer’s own crew. It is preconditioned that this crew is trained and certified by mageba’s experts prior to being considered qualified.



Refurbishment and Modifications


Many bridges have reached an age that necessitates extensive refurbishment or even replacement of bearings or expansion joints. mageba has the experience, the technology, the experts and the infrastructure to perform such projects professionally and fast.

Remote Monitoring (Robo®Control) System

Robo®Control is a fully automatic and very robust bridge remote monitoring system. Apart from measured parameters on bridge bearings, expansion joints and shock absorbers, characteristic bridge parameters and loads can also be measured and calculated, for example the natural frequency.

Robo®Control measures parameters at predetermined intervals and transmits data by means of a GSM or GPRS module to a central computer system. There, the data is processed and the end user is able to access them through a secure web page.


Robo®Control finds its application, where it is important to collect and evaluate permanent information concerning the behaviour of a structure.

This can be the case at settlement or earthquake endangered areas, also at historical or ancient structures, which are exposed to heavier loads than originally planned due to changing traffic intensity. More...
